The Print Exchange
I've joined 500 world wide artists who will be making prints for the Just A Second print exchange. Each participant will create an edition of twelve prints to submit and will receive ten unique prints made by strangers in return! Of the two remaining, one will go into our archive at Brooklyn Art Library and the other will be used in an exhibition here in New York.
I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it! I'm about to lose control and I think I like it! I like it! LOL

Art Show Opening
Today is the opening for the Student Art Show at UMA. Work that was
done in/for any UMA art class can be submitted for the show but then the art
pieces have to be juried in. I submitted two of my 30 x 22 inch prints
from my print class last spring. Not only were they juried in but they
won in the Print division. Yeah! Here they are. The bright white
spots are the spotlight reflections on the glass. Sorry I couldn't get
better pictures.

Intaglio Printing
Before Beth and I started to make our hard cover books, we tried some intaglio printing. Intaglioo printing is when you ink up a plate, wipe off as much ink as possible, and then print. What appears on the paper is the ink left in the recesses of the plate. Here are the collagraph plates (one front and one back) I made using cardboard from a Girl Scout cookie box and modeling paste.
We inked up the plates, wiped off the ink using first pages from an old phone book and then a tarleton.
We tried printing it with my pin press but we could not apply enough pressure to print the recesses. Beth then tried her pasta roller.
That totally worked! See the great lines?

Accordion Book
Using the failed itaglio printing from my last play date with Beth and the paste paper from the play date before I made this accordion book. Once I got over the disappointment of the failed itaglio, I was able to like the relief print.

Tea Time Print Series
Artist Statement
In this monotype series I explore the contradiction of tea being a genteel tradition for elegant ladies versus being a forbidden, unhealthy substance. Raised as a non-tea drinker, my newly acquired habit of drinking an herbal tea borders on scandalous behavior that may imperil my immortal soul. By layering direct, indirect, and ghost prints I create not so still lifes of tea pots and tea cups enjoying a sip of tea together. My influence for the series is print artist Jenny Waelti-Walters.

Prints
Here are my first 4 attempts in my intermediate print class. They are black ink on paper. The print is 11" by 12". The one the right is a direct print and the one on the left is a ghost print.
These are some of my deconstructed silk screen prints from my play date with Beth. The prints are approximately 11" square and printed on bamboo/cotton fabric. These are the prints after they have been batched and washed.
